Thank you for considering my services as you take steps towards your own healing and growth. As you review my services, I invite you to consider whether I might be a fit for your counselling needss.
I continue to be moved by the human spirit and the way that resilience and resistance are woven into the fabric of our lived experiences. I believe that the impulse to heal and grow presents itself as an inner wisdom within us all. In counselling, I strive to create a warm, safe, and supportive space for you to explore what matters most. I support counselling conversations using a variety of approaches. In particular, I draw from narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy (body-centered therapy), EMDR, and feminist therapy.
I am a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and I have a Master's degree in counselling psychology. I have provided counselling in the public health system, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Before becoming a counsellor, I was fortunate to learn and grow alongside folks who experience developmental differences. It was in this work, that I first learned about the depths of the human connection and the many ways in which we can share with, and hear, one another.
Outside of counselling conversations, I enjoy reading, exploring the world through my daughter's eyes, spending time with family and friends, and being outside. I have a deep appreciation for the mountains; exploring the ridges and valleys allows me to re-center. I am also passionate about anti-oppressive social movements.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Amanda (she/her)
